Guided by its founders and co-owners, Barbara Baekgaard and Patricia Miller, Vera Bradley Designs has become nationally and internationally renowned in the Gift Industry. Creating quilted cotton luggage, handbags, accessories and table linens, the company combines exclusive fabric designs in colorful, pure cotton prints with distinctive border trims.
The Vera Bradley story is a testimony to the American Dream. Baekgaard and Miller, two longtime friends, were awaiting a flight in the Atlanta airport in March, 1982. Casually observing a lack of feminine carry-on luggage among fellow passengers, they wasted no time correcting this situation. Within weeks, these two dynamic women had created a company, named after Barbara's mother, capable of marketing as well as manufacturing the cleverly designed products. As the demand for these unique products grew, so did the company, which is now a multi-million dollar business.
Vera Bradley products are collected by many women who not only look forward to the lovely new fabrics and shapes that are introduced each year, but also appreciate the function and quality that is synonymous with Vera Bradley Designs. As one of our retailers recently commented, "We have many customers who can recite that Mom loves Laurel, Aunt May collects Bluebird (although she used to do Pastel Pink), cousin Emily looks great in RedLeaf, and now I get to pick MY color! Vera Bradley is something worth waiting for, something worth saving for, and something worth adding on to."
Located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Vera Bradley has remained steadfast in its commitment to excellent quality, dependable service and tasteful, innovative designs.
